Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week: Shaping the Next Generation of Housebuilders

This week is National Apprenticeship Week, and at Cambridge Investment Partnership (CIP), we are proud to be shaping the next generation of skilled housebuilders. This week is all about celebrating apprentices and the vital role they play in building the future, and we are committed to giving young people the training and opportunities they need to thrive in the construction industry.
At CIP, we are committed to nurturing future talent. Through the Cambridge NHBC Training Hub, we work closely with local schools and partners like the NHBC and GSQ Brickwork to create clear pathways into construction. The purpose-built hub in Histon is more than just a training centre, it is a catalyst for change in the construction industry. With classrooms, welfare facilities, and hands-on training spaces, apprentices develop the practical skills they need while working on real projects across Cambridge.
Our engagement doesn’t stop at the hub. We actively connect with local schools and colleges, attending Career Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) sessions to encourage students to explore the wide range of careers available in construction.
In Cambridge, we have visited Netherhall Secondary College, St Bede’s Inter-Church School, and Coleridge Community College, supporting students in understanding the opportunities open to them. Through our partnership with Form the Future CIC, we help young people build employability skills, careers awareness, motivation, and ambition.
We have also built a strong relationship with North Cambridge Academy, delivering dedicated curriculum days focused on career opportunities and pathways into construction and housebuilding. Additionally, we are a sponsoring partner of Inspire 2 Ignite, supporting the planning and delivery of their “Curious about Construction” programme for Alternative Provision (AP) students. These initiatives aim to inspire young people and show that a career in construction is accessible, rewarding, and full of opportunity.
At CIP, we’re not just building homes, we’re building careers, communities, and the future of construction. By investing in apprentices, we’re helping young people turn their skills and ambition into rewarding careers, while ensuring the next generation of housebuilders is ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow
